A 17-year-old has been arrested after another girl was stabbed and left with "life-threatening injuries".

Thames Valley Police said it was called to High Wycombe at about 01:35 BST.

Officers went to Amersham Road, close to where it becomes Amersham Hill, and the injured teenager was receiving treatment in hospital.

The 17-year-old, from High Wycombe, has since been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Det Insp Philip Turner-Robson said: “I appreciate the circumstances of this incident may be concerning but we believe it was a targeted attack with no threat to the wider public."
