Guernsey Post has announced it will be launching its first set of crypto stamps.

The island's first collection, which will be released on 24 July, features Billy and Nanny - the Golden Guernsey Goats.

Unlike conventional stamps used for mail, the crypto stamps are limited edition, non-postage, collectable products with a digital artifact designed for collectors and enthusiasts.

Each collectable has a digital twin (NFT), which is activated after purchase through the QR code found on the reverse of the stamp.

Bridget Yabsley, head of Guernsey Stamps and Collectables at Guernsey Post, said: "More than 80 years after Guernsey issued its first locally produced stamps, we are excited to enter this new market with the launch of Guernsey Crypto Stamps and to create an opportunity for stamp collectors and fans."

She added: "By establishing Guernsey Crypto Stamps, Guernsey Post is bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds in philately so that collecting and exchanging Guernsey collectables can be done through the use of blockchain technology."
