Tributes have been paid to a man who died after being struck by a car and carried on its roof in a suspected hit-and-run.

Daniel Livingstone was looking forward to the festive period before he died in hospital on Christmas Day, loved ones said.

The 20-year-old was struck by a white Volkswagen Golf on Bridge Street, in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, at about 21:30 GMT on 14 December.

It is thought the Golf was overtaking a grey Peugeot at the time of the crash, and officers have appealed for the driver of the second vehicle to come forward.

Friends and relatives are raising money to help family members pay for funeral costs.

Relatives had kept a bedside vigil as Mr Livingstone was fighting for his life.

The fundraiser, which has raised £6,525 of £6,000 target, notes he had his whole life ahead of him.

Charlotte Bailey, who organised the fundraising on behalf of Mr Livingstone's family, said their lives would be changed forever.

"They have lived in the village for years and are well known to the village and surrounding areas," she said.

"The community is shocked by the events that have taken place and feel that any help to ease the financial concerns that the family have is the very least we can do."
