A member of a cheerleading team said they had "done themselves proud" after appearing in the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent.

Coventry Dynamite’s Lady Grenades opened Tuesday night's live broadcast, performing in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli.

The squad received praise from the panel of the ITV show but did not make it through to the live final.

Speaking to BBC Radio CWR, team member Izy said the team were "so proud" to have made it through to the semi-finals.

"To have the opportunity was just incredible and just to be there in front of the judges and to show cheerleading again was also incredible," she said.

The night had been a "whirlwind" and the whole experience of competing was "surreal", she added.

"It's so different to what you could have imagined. Each part that went into the live shows was so crazy."

The Lady Grenades, made up of members aged between 13 and 19, have won numerous national and international titles, most recently coming third at the Cheerleading World Championships.

In a social media post the team thanked all who had voted, shared, liked and posted about the team during their time on the show.

"We are so glad we got a chance to shine a light on our wonderful sport and what it has to offer," they said.
