Views sought on homes plan for historic high street

The views of residents are being sought in connection with plans to demolish part of a historic high street to make way for new housing.
Parkland Estates has drafted a proposal to build up to 75 new homes in Rochester High Street.
A public consultation into the design plans, which would involve knocking down two blocks of flats and a row of townhouses, opened on Monday.
Part of the site is within the Star Hill to Sun Pier conservation area - a location Medway Council is prioritising for regeneration.
Parkland Estates, which has organised the consultation, wants to sell the high street sites to a developer with pre-approved planning permission, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.
A planning application for the area was submitted in January to canvass opinion about demolishing the properties.
A full application, including any changes suggested by members of the public as part of the consultation, could be submitted later in the year.
