A man has been seriously injured in an attack by up to 10 men, some of whom were believed to be armed with machetes.

The victim, in his 40s, sustained knife wounds in the incident on Valley Road, Bloxwich, Walsall, at about 20:15 BST on Thursday.

A property was also damaged and the attackers were believed to have fled in a white Ford Transit and a grey 4x4, West Midlands Police said.

The injured man was in a serious but stable condition in hospital, the force added.

It said it had stepped up patrols and was asking for anyone who could assist inquiries to come forward.
