E-scooter rider dies nine days after being injured

A 27-year-old e-scooter rider died in hospital nine days after he was involved in a crash in east London.

The man was found in with serious injuries in Woolwich Manor Way, Newham, at about 01:50 BST on 5 May.

No other vehicles were present, the Metropolitan Police said.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to hospital but died on 14 May.

The man's family has been told and is being supported by specially trained officers.

The crash happened at the junction with Albatross Close.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it to call 101.

Department for Transport figures show 11 e-scooter riders were killed in Britain in 2022, with 356 seriously injured.
