Attempted murder charge after two hurt outside shop

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after two people were injured and several others were allegedly threatened outside a supermarket.

The incident happened outside Aldi on Bevois Valley Road, Southampton, on Sunday at about 12:45 BST.

Azzedvie Mahmoudi, 46, of Cobbett Road, Southampton, was charged with three counts of attempted murder. He was also charged with attempted grievous bodily harm, threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article, and possessing a blade or sharp pointed article in a public place.

He appeared at Southampton Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to appear at the city's crown court on 1 September.

Police said local neighbourhood teams have been conducting additional patrols in the area.
