Views sought on plans to extend resident parking

More areas where resident parking permits will be needed are being looked at to create more spaces

Residents are being asked for their thoughts on proposed changes to a parking permit scheme.
Wokingham Borough Council said it was looking at adding new roads where resident parking permits were needed to create more parking bays in residential areas.
The authority said the proposals would create bigger zones – defined not by street but by area - to address "rising on-street parking issues around the town centres and train stations".
A consultation on the proposed changes, external closes on 28 September.
Residents with no off-street parking at their home would be able to apply for up to two parking permits.
Households with one off-street parking space would be eligible for one parking permit and those with two or more off-street parking spaces would not be eligible for any parking permits.
Visitor parking permits could also be brought in under the proposals.
A first parking permit would cost £55. A second permit, if eligible, would be £105.
Resident permits are currently £40 a year.
The authority said there were no boundary changes proposed for the current Remenham, Earley and Emmbrook zones.
