The gym at Haltemprice leisure centre is to close for two weeks in September for a major refurbishment, the council has said.
New gym equipment will be installed at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice in Anlaby, Hull, which will also be deep-cleaned and decorated, with the centre being closed from 07:30 BST on 12 September until 08:00 on 27 September.
Other areas of the centre will remain open during the work with additional classes available, East Riding of Yorkshire Council said.
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, tourism and leisure said: ''This is exciting news for East Riding Leisure members and the new facilities will drastically improve our offer at Haltemprice gym."
The council said some gym equipment would be available in alternative rooms during the works as well as a designated space for Health Agenda clients.
During the closure, the council said court 10 would be available with limited equipment which could be accessed via a booking system.
The gym will reopen in time for the Les Mills class launch roadshow on 27 September with the opportunity to try free classes, including body combat, body pump, dance and body balance.
