A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in the New Forest, police have said.

The incident involved a black Honda motorcycle and white and red goods vehicle at the junction of Gosport Lane, the A337 and A35 in Lyndhurst.

Officers were called at 12:35 BST on Friday and the motorcyclist, a man in his 60s from New Milton, remains in hospital.

A 52-year-old man from Bognor Regis, West Sussex, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the man had been released under investigation.

Police are now urging witnesses to come forward to help with their investigation.

The force spokesperson said officers were "specifically keen" to speak to a driver of a grey 2022 registration Seat car, which had roof bars on.

They said the car arrived at the scene soon after the incident and officers believed the driver may have helpful information.
