A music festival has been postponed by two months because of "scheduling conflicts".

Come Together Festival, which will be headlined by Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon, was originally set to take place in Newcastle's Town Moor in early June.

The festival will now take place between 20-22 August at the site of the Hoppings funfair, which organisers said would afford more space and a better infrastructure.

Tickets remain valid for the new dates, and ticket-holders will be contacted about what happens next.

David Wilson, chairman of the Freemen of Newcastle upon Tyne, said the delay would be "frustrating for some", but moving the shows meant operators TEG could deliver "an even more exceptional event".

Organisers said ticket sales had been "really strong", with more than 50,000 people expected to attend the festival.
