Former police officer charged with misconduct

A former police officer is due to appear in court over allegations he engaged in a sexual relationship with a woman he met while leading an investigation, the police watchdog has said.
Ex-Leicestershire Police constable Daniel Jackson has been charged with misconduct in public office following an inquiry by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
It is alleged that between May and June 2022, he pursued personal contact and engaged in a sexual relationship with a woman who was in a "vulnerable situation", the IOPC said.
Mr Jackson is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
The IOPC said its investigation began in June 2022 following a mandatory conduct referral from the force and after it concluded, it referred a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Mr Jackson resigned from the force in September 2022, the watchdog added.
