A 15-year-old boy has been charged after an altercation that involved weapons, including poles and hammers, in Southampton on Tuesday.

Police were called to North East Road after reports that a man was hit with a car and two men, one in his 20s and another in his 50s, were later found with minor injuries.

The boy, from Southampton, was charged with attempted kidnap, two counts of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, theft, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.

He remains in police custody and is due to appear at the city's magistrates' court on Monday.
