Length of sentence for pub rapist to be reviewed

A man sentenced to less than three years in prison for raping a woman in a pub toilet will have his sentence reviewed, according to the Attorney General's Office.

Szczepan Zenon Malczewski was sentenced at York Crown Court to 33 months imprisonment for the attack, which happened in Scarborough in May.

The 38-year-old, of Sandstone Road in Eastfield, had pleading guilty to one count of rape and two counts of assault by penetration.

The Attorney General's Office has referred his sentence to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence, external scheme.

It is due to be brought before the court in October.
