A 55-year-old woman has been charged with the murder of another woman in north London.

An abandoned call was made to the Metropolitan Police from an address in Westerham Avenue, Edmonton, Enfield, just after 17:00 GMT on Thursday.

Officers attended the location and found Efthyia Constantinou, 62, with stab injuries.

Zaneta Peto - also known as Maria Peto - of Charles Street, Enfield, was arrested on Friday and later charged with murder.

The Met said despite the efforts of officers, Ms Constantinou was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Peto was known to the victim, the force said, adding that it was not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.

Det Ch Insp Sarah Lee, from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: "Our sincerest condolences are offered to Efthyia’s family, friends and the wider community who are so deeply saddened by her death."

She said her family continued to be supported by specially trained officers.
