The family of a man who was stabbed to death say he was the "life and soul of the party".
Craig Yorke, 28, died from stab wounds in Eldon Lane near Bishop Auckland, County Durham, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The father of two girls was "much-loved" and "always put others before himself", a statement from his family read.
An 18-year-old man and two boys, aged 17 and 16, have been arrested and charged with his murder.
Mr Yorke died on High Street at about 03:30 GMT, police said.
His family said: "Craig was a much-loved dad to his two girls Sadie and Verity.
"He was a fun-loving character, and he always put others before himself."
The three teenagers appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and did not enter any pleas.
They were remanded in custody and due before Newcastle Crown Court at a date to be confirmed.
