Driver killed after motorway collision

A man has died after two cars collided on a motorway.

The crash took place on the M1 southbound carriageway between junctions 15 for Northampton and 14 for Milton Keynes at 18:30 BST on Wednesday evening, according to Thames Valley Police.

A man in his 30s, who was driving a yellow Honda Jazz, died of his injuries at the scene, his passenger was another man in his 30s who was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of a white Nissan Qashqai, a man in his 40s, sustained minor injuries.

Investigating officer Det Con Julia Stroud said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family of the man who has tragically died in this collision.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still trying to establish the full circumstances."

The force appealed to witnesses to contact them.
