Man accused of multiple rapes appears in court

A 31-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the rapes of two women on the same night.

Haider Ali, from Middlesbrough, is accused of attacking the women in the Yarm Road area of Stockton-on-Tees, between 23:00 BST on Saturday and 00:30 on Sunday.

At Teesside Magistrates' Court, Mr Ali, who faces three counts of rape, spoke only to confirm his name and address.

He did not enter any pleas and was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on 10 October.
