A cat has conquered the Three Peaks challenge in 29 hours, walking on a lead with his owners.

Louis the Persian from Sherfield English, near Romsey, Hampshire, climbed the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales - Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon.

One of his owners, Jess Peters, said she and her partner would get stopped by everyone asking about him along the way.

Ms Peters said despite the fact Louis was a Persian, "he just loves being outside".

She said Ben Nevis had taken them the longest - that was 11 hours, followed by 10 for Scafell Pike and eight for Snowdon.

"He walked most of the way," she said.

"When we got above the clouds, we had to carry him because he got cold."

Ms Peters said she had had Louis for seven years and had started walking him since a kitten.

"He's a Persian, so the idea was that he is an indoor cat," she said.

"I started walking him round the garden. He loved it. Then we went out to the woods and he loved it even more."

They continued their outdoor adventures in woods and parks.

"He just loves being outside," she shared.

When it came to the climbing challenge, Ms Peters said she thought her pet "was more prepared than we were".

She said climbers had stopped her to ask about the cat all the time.

And as it was "just taking so long to get to the top", they had to print off business cards and hand them out to keep going.

"My partner's told me 'Don't come up with any more stupid ideas'," Ms Peters confessed, before adding she was open to doing height-related challenges with Louis.

Their adventure has been recorded on Louis's Instagram page.
