Bridge to reopen after seven weeks of maintenance
- Published
A busy road bridge which has been closed for about seven weeks for maintenance is due to reopen.
Work started in July on the 90-year-old Newport Bridge, which connects Middlesbrough with Stockton over the River Tees.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council said the works included carriageway resurfacing, footway improvements and vegetation clearance.
It said the bridge's reopening on Monday was subject to weather conditions.
The A1032 was closed for the duration of the work from Newport roundabout to Portrack interchange.
