A teenager has been taken to hospital after he was shot in the leg.

The 18-year-old was injured at flats in Scholars Rise, in Middlesbrough, on Sunday.

Cleveland Police said its officers were called to the scene at about 23:10 GMT and the suspects fled on off-road bikes.

An investigation is under way and the force said there would be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
