A former boxer who punched a man so hard he ruptured his spleen has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Daniel Allsop, 38, was attacked by Mali Wright in Blackpool and suffered a blunt force trauma before collapsing at a McDonald's on 2 October last year.

Mr Allsop was taken to hospital but died two days later.

After a two-week trial at Preston Crown Court, Wright, 30, was convicted by a jury and will be sentenced on 10 September.

Wright had initially been charged with murder but was later arrested on suspicion of causing Mr Allsop's death, police said.

Det Ch Insp Jill Riley said Wright's unprovoked attack showed a "shocking level of violence and brutality".

“My thoughts and sympathies remain with Daniel’s family at this incredibly upsetting and difficult time.

"They have lost a dad, son and brother, and have not been able to truly grieve for their loss."

Paying tribute, Mr Allsop's family previously said: "He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him."
