The Premier Inn chain has been given permission to increase the number of bedrooms at one of its hotels by developing a former pub.

Shropshire councillors have approved its application to add 11 new bedrooms to its site near the Mile End services.

The Oswald's Cross pub, which had been operating as a Table Table restaurant, closed in July.

The development will increase the number of rooms at the Oswestry hotel to 109.

The hotel chain said the conversion would be "relatively minor in nature" and would contribute to "the economic growth of the area and improving the hotel capacity".
