The local authority wants to hear from residents on the three new ideas for Bicester Market Square

Three options for a £4.25m project to enhance a town centre have been revealed.

Cherwell District Council in Oxfordshire is asking the public to "have your say" on the future of Bicester Market Square improvements.

The scheme has been labeled a "major investment" for the area by deputy leader Councillor Lesley McLean who said the authority was "committed to listening".

Residents have previously raised concerns about road access and parking which has led to the three design ideas being put forward.

The public are now being urged to tell the council which one they prefer.

The first proposal retains the existing road layout, enhancing Market Square itself.

The second suggests introducing two-way traffic alongside enhancements to the square.

And the third option introduces the most drastic alterations with both two-way traffic and the relocation of parking to improve accessibility.

Ms McLean explained the council would like to hear how the public "use the square and what improvements they would like to see".

"We hope to deliver a space that truly reflects something for everyone, and we are asking for views on which of the three concept ideas is preferred," she added.

"Obviously we can't please everybody, but we want to deliver what the community want and need.

"Community feedback is essential in ensuring that the final plans reflect the needs and aspirations of the people who live and work in Bicester."

Cherwell District Council is expected to finalise the preferred design choice by the end of February.

The work is expected to take place between 2027 and 2028.
