A runaway drink-driver who repeatedly rammed police cars to avoid capture before spitting at an officer has been jailed.
Nottinghamshire Police said Sean Hood was spotted driving recklessly in Nuthall Road, Nottingham, in the early hours of 2 June.
After ignoring demands to stop, the 36-year-old passed through red lights and drove directly into oncoming traffic as well as repeatedly brake-testing and ramming pursuing vehicles in a bid to flee the scene.
At Nottingham Crown Court on Monday he was handed a 13-month prison sentence after admitting multiple offences.
Nottinghamshire Police said Hood had been detained after officers were eventually able to box in his car.
He was further arrested for spitting at a detention officer as he was taken into custody.
Hood, of HMP Peterborough, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, drink-driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and common assault of an emergency worker.
Following his sentencing, Sgt Matthew Crabtree, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a horrendous display of driving that could easily have caused serious injury to other road users, Hood’s passengers or the occupants of the police cars he repeatedly rammed."
