Firefighters rescue resident from kitchen fire

Firefighters helped a resident leave a property in the St Helier area after a fire broke out in the kitchen earlier.
In a post on social media, external, Jersey Fire & Rescue said it was called to a flat fire at Halkett Place at 09:00 BST after residents saw smoke coming from an upstairs window.
It said unattended cooking caused the small fire which was contained in the kitchen.
Fifteen firefighters attended along with paramedics who provided treatment at the scene.
The fire service said a road closure was put in place but has since been lifted.
