Daughter appeals for help over dog walker's murder

Anita Rose died at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge after sustaining serious injuries

The daughter of a woman who was killed while walking her dog has appealed for help in solving her mother's murder.

Anita Rose, 57, from Brantham, Suffolk, left her home at about 05:00 BST for her daily walk on 24 July when she was attacked. She died four days later in hospital.

Jessica Cox, one of Ms Rose's six children, told BBC Crimewatch Live her mother was a "beautiful, strong, independent woman" who loved being with her children and grandchildren.

"We need to find the person that done this to my mum. They need to face justice," she said.

Ms Rose moved to Brantham about six years ago and "loved the area", Ms Cox said.

She told her daughter it was a place where she knew the community and "felt safe".

Ms Cox said her mother had a long-term partner of 13 years, Richard, adding: "They adored each other. Mum was planning on growing old with him."

Speaking about the day of the attack, while fighting back tears, Ms Cox said: "Her injuries that she sustained, she didn't look like my mum.

"She was 57 years old and had so much to live for, so much she was looking forward to. She was supposed to be on holiday right now."

Ms Cox said her mother would have had the birth of another grandchild and the marriage of a son to look forward to.

"We just haven't got our mum and our mum isn't here to look after us any more."

Ms Cox added: "We don't understand how someone could brutally attack someone when they're walking their dog.

"I really want anyone that has any information, however small or insignificant they think it may be, to come forward and speak to the police.

"They've done it to my mum and they could do it to somebody else, and they're still out there."

Det Ch Insp Matthew Connick, from Suffolk Police, also made an appeal.

Ms Rose's pink Regatta jacket, black quilted phone case with a gold crown and stud detail, and white bud earphones all remain missing.

Detectives believe they may hold key information or evidence.

"Anita's family deserve answers and anyone with information, no matter how big, small or even irrelevant it may initially seem, are urged to contact us as it may assist us to establish the full circumstances surrounding Anita's injuries and subsequent death," said Mr Connick.

Police have issued a video of Ms Rose walking her dog on the day she was attacked.

Three people have been arrested and released on bail in connection with the inquiry, but officers have yet to charge anyone.

Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for anyone able to offer "key information".
