A rural primary school has been shut after a "significant number" of staff and pupils were affected by a sickness bug.

Michaelchurch Escley Primary School in Herefordshire said it had taken the decision to close on Friday following health and safety advice.

A deep clean of the building has been arranged for the weekend.

The school said it planned to reopen as normal on Monday 6 October.
