Police are investigating reports of hate-related graffiti near a primary school in Lincolnshire.
The words "send them home" were daubed on a fence close to the entrance to Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Primary Academy in Boston earlier this month.
The school said it was "shocked and saddened" by the graffiti and "stood united" against racism and discrimination in all forms.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "This is being treated as criminal damage and categorised as a hate crime."
The spokesperson added: "We take all reports of hate crime seriously and would encourage anyone with information to contact us."
In a statement, the school said: "As a Catholic primary rooted in values of respect, inclusion and community, hate has no place here.
"We are grateful for the support shown by parents and residents and we remain committed to ensuring our school is a safe and welcoming place for every child."
According to the school's website, it is part of a diverse community serving families from more than 20 countries.
