The water main burst on Burwell Drive is disrupting supplies in the OX28 and OX29 postcodes

Homes and businesses in parts of Witney in Oxfordshire are facing disruption to their water supplies after a main pipe burst.

The problem discovered on Burwell Drive on Thursday evening means those in the OX28 and OX29 postcodes have no water or low pressure.

Apologising for "water not flowing through taps as normal", Thames Water said the repair was "more complex than usual and requires a deeper excavation" with a team hand digging to reach the damaged section.

Witney Fire Station said it had both appliances available but as a precaution "due to the water issues, any fires in the area would see an additional fire engine sent to support with extra water".

The water firm added that while the pipe was being fixed water had been rerouted from other areas.

It said any resident who might need extra help while supplies were disrupted should sign up to the company's priority services register, external.

Carers, friends, or family can also register on behalf of someone they think could benefit from extra support.
