A stretch of a flood-prone major route through Dorset is set to close to put in bigger drainpipes with drivers diverted along a 18-mile (28km) route for four weeks.

The new pipes are going in on the A35 near Bloxworth between Bere Regis and the Bakers Arms roundabout.

Dorset Council said the upgrade would reduce the risk of blockages that have been causing the road to flood.

While the work is carried out the road will shut both ways between Fox Pound and Morden Park Corner from 22 September to 17 October, with diversions in place via the A31 and A350.
