Nearly 900 homes planned for edge of town

Three developments have been proposed for land to the west of Stone

Hundreds of homes could be built on the outskirts of a town after plans for three separate developments were revealed.

The housing estates would be built on farmland either side of Eccleshall Road, to the west of Stone, Staffordshire.

They include a Taylor Wimpey proposal for 140 homes and Richborough Estates' plan for 240 homes, both to the south of the road.

More than 500 homes were also proposed for land on the north side and that development, from Bloor Homes, first unveiled in March, would also include a primary school and health centre.

All three developers have started public consultations on their respective proposals although planning applications have yet to be submitted to Stafford Borough Council.

The consultation on Richborough Estates' plan runs until 19 May and a statement on the developer's website said the land offered an "ideal opportunity to deliver a high quality, attractive and well-integrated new neighbourhood".
