An 83-year-old woman has died after being struck by a motorcycle in North Yorkshire.

The woman, from the Hambleton area, was involved in a "serious" collision with a blue Suzuki motorbike as she was walking on the A6108 near West Tanfield Cricket Club at about 14:30 BST on Saturday, according to North Yorkshire Police.

She was airlifted to hospital for emergency treatment, but died on Tuesday evening.

A force spokesperson appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage from the scene to get in touch.

The woman's family was being supported by police, they added.

The motorcycle was being ridden by a man in his 60s from Harrogate who was not injured in the collision, police said.
