Hereford Town Hall will become the library's temporary home during building work

A library is set to relocate its services while refurbishment works take place.

Hereford Library will undergo a two-year renovation and will see the current temporary library at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre on Friars Street close on Saturday.

The new temporary library space at Hereford Town Hall will open on 22 October 2024 while the Shirehall is revamped.

The council said it followed a consultation in which users favoured a more central location for the temporary site.

The library’s new home will officially launch during October half-term with a week-long programme featuring family-friendly activities, drop-in crafts workshops, story time and baby sign sessions, and a performance by Sea Legs Puppet Theatre.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to view design proposals for the new Library and Learning Centre at Shirehall, and share their feedback with the council.
