Police are seeking a motorcyclist after a female pedestrian suffered a broken neck in a hit-and-run collision.

South Yorkshire Police believe the woman was struck by a motorcyclist while walking along the road in Peel Parade in Barnsley's town centre just after midnight on 20 September.

The rider fled the scene while the woman, who is in her 20s, suffered a broken neck and was taken to hospital.

Releasing a CCTV image of a motorcyclist on Monday, South Yorkshire Police said they want to identify the man, who they believe is of a slim build and in his late teens or early 20s.

A police spokesperson added: "We are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or may have footage of the collision, or motorcyclists in the area at the time that can help us progress our inquiry."
