A man in his 80s suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg, after being attacked in York city centre.

North Yorkshire Police said the man was assaulted outside Lloyds Bank on Piccadilly, between 12.15 and 12.30 BST on Tuesday.

A force spokesperson said the victim had been walking along Piccadilly when he was approached by another man before being pushed to the floor.

They said officers were examining CCTV images and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time to contact them.
