A dangerous driver involved in a crash with a fellow motorist proceeded to run him over and dragged him several feet before fleeing the scene.
Richard Perrin hit the victim's van in Shirley in November 2023 and drove off, Birmingham Crown Court heard.
When the victim caught up with him and tried to exchange details, Perin ran him over and dragged him up the busy road, where he left him seriously injured.
Perrin, 58, previously admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving at the same court and was sentenced on 6 March to three years in prison.
Perrin, of Whittle Road, Solihull, hit the victim's van with his Toyota at the junction of Bills Lane and Shakespeare Drive on 29 November 2023.
He told the 29-year-old van driver he had not realised then hit him with his car and drove off.
Officers spoke to those who witnessed Perrin's dangerous driving and viewed CCTV and dash-cam footage before arresting him at home, where they found damage to the front of his car and a handprint on the bonnet.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries which he is still recovering from, added the force.
In addition to the prison term, Perrin was disqualified from driving for four-and-a-half years and must pass an extended test to get his licence back.
Acting Detective Sergeant Lana Payne from Solihull Police thanked members of the public for assisting the investigation.
She said: "This was a traumatic incident that the victim continues to recover from and he has also been unable to return to work.
"Had Perrin stopped at the scene initially, this would never have happened."
