New AI factory to take 'complex' healthcare work

A new AI data centre in Northamptonshire will handle "complex" workloads in healthcare and logistics, a tech company has announced.
AI Pathfinder said work on the factory in Chelveston, near Rushden, would begin in December and was its first step in creating 2GW of supercomputing capacity for the UK.
Earlier this week, the government announced a £31bn pact with several US tech giants, external to boost AI research and advances in drug discovery.
"AI Pathfinder's mission to provide the infrastructure [to deliver AI] is a critical part of ensuring the UK is at the forefront of the AI-powered global economy," said chairman Martin Bellamy.
UK-based AI Pathfinder said it already controlled multiple sites across the country and had "tenured experience of delivering complex projects".
The government has also announced US firm Prologis will invest more than £900m to expand Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal.
The Department for Business and Trade said it would boost national rail freight capability, cut reliance on road haulage and increase jobs.
