A man who raped and sexually assaulted women during a five-year campaign of abuse has been jailed.

Shane Davis, 36, made forceful advances on his victims and pressured them into sexual acts against their will, between 2018 and 2023, before he was reported to police in November 2023.

He was found guilty of two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault, following a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court in July.

Davis, of Brewers Place in Stone, Staffordshire, was sentenced to 17 years in prison during a hearing at the same court on Tuesday.

The defendant was given four indefinite restraining orders against his victims and put on the sex offenders register for life. He was also handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Det Con Charlotte Morrey, of Staffordshire Police, praised the survivors for coming forward.

"They have shown immense bravery and courage to help us secure the conviction against Davis," she said.
