John McNab died after being injured on Great Junction Street in Leith

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested and charged over the death of a man on a street in Edinburgh.

John McNab, 22, was found injured on Great Junction Street in Leith, at Bonnington Road, at about 02:10 on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended but he died at the scene. Officers are still in the area carrying out investigations.

The 16-year-old boy is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Det Insp Kevin Tait said: "I would like to extend my sympathies to John's family and friends at this very difficult time."

He said that inquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Police Scotland, external.
