A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was stabbed in Hull.

Humberside Police said it was called to a disturbance on Broadley Close at about 01:00 BST on Saturday after a man gained entry to a property.

A 42-year-old man was threatened and stabbed, the force said, and was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his arm.

Officers said a 48-year-old man was held at the scene and remains in police custody, with witnesses or those with information asked to get in contact with police.

Det Insp Lloyd Sharkett, of Humberside Police, said a knife believed to be connected to the incident was found during a search of the area.

"I understand an incident of this nature will cause concern amongst the local community, but I would like to offer my reassurance that we believe this to be an isolated incident between two people known to each other," he said.

"A scene guard remains in place to allow officers and crime scene investigators to carry out their enquiries, and residents may notice an increased police presence in the area."
