Human bones have been found at a beach, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the bones were discovered on Saunton Sands on Saturday at about 14:50 BST.

They said the bones would be examined by a forensic archaeologist to work out how old they were.

A scene guard would remain in place while the remains were recovered, they added, and an inquiry was under way.
