Mobility scooter rider in his 80s dies after crash

A mobility scooter rider has died after he was involved in a crash in Maidstone.

The man's scooter was involved in a collision with a silver Volkswagen Passat on the A229, Royal Engineers Road, in Maidstone on Friday.

The man was taken to a London hospital after the crash, but he died from his injuries the following day.

The car driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested and has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

An investigation by Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit has been launched.

Any witnesses to the incident, or events leading up to it, are urged to contact police.
