A woman had to have a finger amputated after she was left injured by a man armed with a plank of wood in Bradford, police said.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was assaulted on Harrogate Road near Eccleshill Community Hospital on 19 September between 22:30 and 23:00 BST, police said.

The victim was with another woman when a man in a car stopped and "started shouting at them", before getting out of the vehicle and hitting her on the hand with the plank.

Her injuries resulted in her requiring an amputation, officers added.

The suspect was described as a white middle-aged male, bald and about 5ft 10ins (178cm) tall.

He was wearing blue jeans and a dark top and was driving a navy five-door car, which officers said may have been a Skoda.

Any witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident, which happened close to the junction with Summerbridge Drive, have been asked to get in touch with police.
