Second teenager dies after car crash

A second teenager has died following a crash on the A19.

It happened on 24 November at about 23:00 GMT on the northbound carriageway at Seaton, near the turn-off for Sunderland.

A 17-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene, Northumbria Police said.

The 19-year-old man who was driving the dark yellow Vauxhall Corsa died from his injuries in hospital on Saturday.

Sgt Christopher Herron, of Northumbria Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of the two young people who have tragically died in this incident."

He urged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the force.
