The Cambridge Folk Festival, which was cancelled in 2025, has announced its plan to return in 2026.

A post on the festival's website says the event will come back on 1 and 2 August at Cherry Hinton Hall. This is shorter than previous festivals which typically took place from a Thursday evening until Sunday.

The event, which is run by Cambridge City Council, made a loss of £320,000 in 2024.

Few details about the new look festival have been revealed but the announcement says it will include "talented buskers and roving acts".

The city council's cabinet agreed to the scale back the event during a meeting in July. They also said it would take on a "multi-venue format".

At the time Antoinette Nestor, Labour cabinet member for culture, economy and skills, said this would protect "a proud piece of Cambridge's cultural heritage" and reshape it "for a more resilient and more inclusive future".

Cambridge Folk Festival began life in 1965 and in the past has hosted performances from international stars such as Van Morrison, Billy Bragg and Sinead O'Connor.

The Folk Festival's website says details about tickets and the line-up will be announced in November.
