Man critical after city centre assault

A man is in a critical condition after a serious assault in Wakefield city centre, police said.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found unconscious with a head injury on Westgate at about 05:50 BST on Saturday, West Yorkshire Police said.
He was taken to hospital where his condition remains critical.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, or who may have information about what happened, to contact them.
