A suspected unexploded device found on a former steelworks site has been safely disposed of, authorities have confirmed.
The Explosives Ordnance Disposals team (EOD) was called to Teesworks in Southbank, Redcar, at 12:30 BST on Thursday.
Cleveland Police said the site was evacuated as a "precautionary measure" and a 328ft (100m) cordon was put in place, which has since been removed.
South Tees Development Corporation (STDC), which runs the site, said the device was believed to be a "historical ordnance" and was found at the site's Net Zero Teesside Power plant.
A spokesperson confirmed there was no risk to the wider community and the device had been disposed of in a "controlled manner" early on Thursday evening.
It worked with Cleveland Police and the Explosives Ordnance Disposals team (EOD) at the Ministry Of Defence (MOD) as part of operation.
"Normal site operations have resumed," the spokesperson added.
