Eight weeks of resurfacing is planned along a Derby road which has seen more than a year of roadworks taking place.

Remodelling work began in January 2024 along Nottingham Road and Derby Road through Chaddesden including the installation of a new cycle path and crossings.

Work is due to continue until March, and as part of this a "large section" of Nottingham Road will be resurfaced overnight from 3 February.

Derby City Council's transport lead Carmel Swan said the works would cause "some disruption" but would bring "clear improvements".

She said: "I'm aware that these works are taking place in the heart of a residential area and therefore will cause some disruption for residents, but please rest assured that we have done all we can to minimise disruption."

Traffic diverted

Resurfacing is currently taking place on Derby Road in Spondon, with three weeks of overnight closures from 12 January.

The next phase of overnight road closures are planned in six phases from 22:00 to 06:00 GMT, with the council hoping to keep the road open on Saturday and Sunday nights "where possible".

Traffic will be diverted along the A52.

Work will begin at the Chaddesden Park Road junction, followed by the section up to Chaddesden Lane, the stretch to Sunny Grove, then to Lyndhurst Grove, to Lime Grove and finally from Oregon Way to Acorn Way.
